The Bagale Collection continues with Session VI, offering another extensive selection from the lifetime collection of the late Dr. E. John Bagale, a respected Pueblo-area physician, historian, and dedicated collector whose passion for military history and militaria spanned decades.

This 500-lot session brings together an exceptionally diverse group of military artifacts, with a particularly strong selection of German military optics, field glasses, binoculars, artillery sights, scopes, and related optical equipment. Collectors will find examples from noted makers including Carl Zeiss Jena, Hensoldt, Voigtländer, Rodenstock, Oigee, Steinheil, Emil Busch, Leitz Wetzlar, and others.

Beyond the optics, Session VI includes an impressive assortment of German and European militaria spanning the Imperial, World War I, World War II, and postwar periods. Highlights throughout the catalog include officer and dress swords, sabers, bayonets, uniforms and uniform components, headgear, flags and banners, field equipment, canteens, medical equipment, insignia, plaques, and related military artifacts.

The archival and historical material is equally varied. The auction features military photo albums, period books and publications, propaganda and illustrated volumes, photographs, postcards, portfolios, posters, and historical ephemera. Of particular interest is a notable selection of material relating to the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, along with German military and political history, wartime publications, military art, and commemorative material.

As with previous sessions of The Bagale Collection, the catalog reflects Dr. Bagale’s wide-ranging interests as both a collector and student of military history. Rather than concentrating solely on one type of artifact, the collection brings together objects, photographs, books, equipment, and reference material accumulated over decades of collecting and research.

The catalog contains original period material as well as postwar, reproduction, reenactment, and reference pieces where identified.
